A fixed-lens rangefinder named for its spot meter, which Olympus says made it the first camera to offer spot as well as averaged metering.
The lens is a G.Zuiko 42mm f/1.7 with seven elements in five groups, in front of a Seiko programmed shutter.
In auto it sets shutter speed and aperture together, from 1/15 to 1/250. In manual the shutter runs from 1 second to 1/500 and Bulb.
A CdS cell on the body reads an average over 20 degrees or a 6-degree spot. It was designed around a 1.3V PX625 mercury cell.
In manual you read the EV number in the finder and turn the aperture ring until the same number shows in the window on the shutter ring.
Focus is by a coupled rangefinder down to 0.85m.
It takes 49mm screw-in filters and weighs 600g at 129 by 76 by 61mm.
