China's Lucky Film stopped making color film in 2012 and spent a decade rebuilding the line from scratch. C400 is their ISO 400 daylight color negative, released in 2026 about a year after C200, and it's roughly half the price of Portra. It runs cheerful and warm. Saturated reds and blues, decent sharpness, and a yellow cast under natural light that's noticeably stronger than Ultramax. Grain is coarser than the Kodak equivalent, closer to Superia in character, though the structure is even and not unpleasant. Most people find it improves rated at ISO 320, or 200 if you want more shadow detail at the cost of some contrast. Daylight and overcast are where it behaves. Mixed or tungsten lighting pushes it green. Standard C-41, so any lab will take it.
