A color negative sold under ORWO's Wolfen name, with a datasheet issued by the coater InovisCoat of Monheim am Rhein.
ORWO traces the formula to an Agfa motion picture stock last used on Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves in 1991, and describes NC400 as its NC500 with finer, more subtle grain, deliberately balanced toward green with desaturated shadows.
In use it is cool, muted and low in contrast, with a green-blue cast, visible grain and halation. It shares NC500's behavior more than the finer-grain framing suggests.
Box speed tends to look underexposed. Casual Photophile found the frames thin at 400 even in bright sun and rated it nearer 200. Some retailers sell it as a tungsten film, which the coater's own datasheet contradicts.
Tips and observations from people who have used this film stock.
Not sure if this is on me, a scanning problem, or the film itself, but a lot of these came out weird as hell, colors shifting yellow/green in some frames, way underexposed in others, had to scan the roll twice on two different scanners and still couldn't get it to look right.
